The Power of Pink: Storytelling Through Branding
Storytelling is a fundamental skill for any creative. As part of an internal team exercise to strengthen our presentation abilities, I was tasked with creating a 15–20 minute talk on a topic of my choice. Around that time, the Barbie movie had just come out following a very successful marketing campaign — a cultural phenomenon that sparked conversation well beyond the film itself.
Inspired by the campaign’s widespread impact, I chose to center my presentation on one of its most iconic branding elements: the color pink. My goal was to take a seemingly simple topic and turn it into an engaging story. The presentation explored the color’s historical roots, cultural evolution, design relevance, and how Barbie transformed it into a pop culture moment leading up to the film’s release.
